Aleix is a happy person in general, as anyone who knows him can say. The boy is almost always seen with a smile on his face, and is full of laughter. One of his top priorities in his life is to make sure that the people around him are happy. After all, his friends mean the world to him. There isn't many times that the teen is seen without a notebook in his hand or a writing utensil of some sort, or even both. Known for daydreaming in class and singing under his breath, Aleix is a generally bright person who loves to hang out with his friends.
However, Lex isn't the most graceful of people, that much can be shown in the way he can trip over flat surfaces, and sometimes that can lead to trouble. His happiness is also considered a flaw, for he is deceptively happy. There aren't many people who get to see the more serious side of this boy because he doesn't let enough people really close enough for this to happen. Sure, he's got his friends but at the same time, he's not as open as everyone thinks. Actually really shy, he hides it behind his "outgoing" mask while internally fretting. Never one to let someone see him down, Aleix would rather fake a smile for the world to believe than to shed a tear for the world to see.
Aleixandre (no middle name for this boy) Hale was born on June 22nd to his proud parents. He was born a few weeks early, but his mother always told him that was because he didn't have any patience even from the get-go. He learned to walk quickly and even started talking before any of his elder siblings had. Daniel, Aeric, and Leah were closer to each other than they were to Aleix because Leah (who was closest in age to Aleix) was almost six years older than him; and Aleix often found himself the victim of one of their pranks. He was in no way unloved, though. Aleix was pretty spoiled and never really went without.
In elementary school, Aleix was the type of boy who got picked on by the others because he didn't like to play basketball. He'd rather sit on the swings. Even at a young age, though, the boy had strength, and refused to let it get to him. He took the taunting with a smile and went about his business. After all, as his mother said he didn't need to please anyone but himself. He'd be lying if he said it didn't hurt, though, and waited until he was home to cry to his mommy and get some cookies.
Upper elementary was better for the bubbly boy, because the boys grew more interested in chasing after girls instead of picking on each other, and it was then that Aleix started taking a liking to his music courses. He'd always been a "fair" singer according to himself but his music teacher finally convinced him to take lessons before middle school began. It was there that Aleix started meeting people he considered to be more real friends because they didn't judge so harshly based on his eccentric look and behavior.
Middle school was a lot better than elementary as the students in his school started to be more open minded about things and Aleix found his group of friends growing larger, though the number in them that he really trusted was still really small. He was enjoying his piano and vocal lessons and looked forward to them more than he did his actual classes, but he knew his classes were important and tried his best to get decent grades. They weren't ever too great, but hey, he was passing.
In his freshman year of high school, Aleix fell into a bad crowd. Why? Simple. A boy. He was "perfect"... for a druggie. It was no secret that Darren, the guy that Aleix started to develop feelings for, was into drugs and alcohol. The other boy was a junior at high school at the time, and when Aleix managed to catch his attention, nothing else mattered because there was an older guy that wanted him. Aleix wasn't too sure when it started, but it wasn't long until he started to fall into that lifestyle too.
Aleix would stay out late, skip school, show up drunk or high, and was generally beginning to worry his parents. Lex wasn't the same sweet boy that he'd been throughout the majority of his life. His performance in his piano and vocal lessons were slipping as well, and he shuddered to think the type of damage his activities were doing to his vocal chords.
Things literally came to a screeching halt for Aleix the summer before his sophomore year. Darren and Lex got into a car wreck which left the younger boy with a few broken bones and a concussion. Darren had been drinking. That was the final straw for Aleix's parents and they ended up banning Lexi from seeing Darren again, which turned out to be for the best when Darren ditched town to try to avoid trouble from the police.
Aleix's parents decided it was time for him to start over in a different place and the teen ended up being enrolled in the Academy. He was reluctant despite the fact it would give him a chance to enhance his musical and writing skills. He didn't want to be there. He wanted his old life back. However as fall turned into spring, Aleix found himself actually glad to be in the school.
His grades still weren't the best but he could focus on his passion for music. He was away from anyone who knew about all the things he'd done to get in trouble the year before and he had a fresh start. He was hurt by Darren leaving as he had, but Aleix knew he was still young. There had to be more chances for him to find someone, right?
Only time would tell for him, and he soon found himself facing his junior year of high school. One year closer to being an adult and one year farther from the year he'd grown to regret, Aleix continued walking the hall with a bright smile that didn't always reach his eyes. Of course, Junior year would be different with the appearance of his elder cousin, Josh Clark, showing up to teach at the school; it meant he wouldn't be able to slip up no matter how difficult things got.
