Name: Veritas Other Characters: none Contact: cbox or pm Random Fact I'm interested in languages.
Name:Blaise Charlene Grisham Alias: Lena Age: 16 Birthday: January, 12 Gender: Female Sexual Preference: No idea Occupation: Student
Grade: Junior Concentration: Fine arts: sculpting Class List: -English 11 -Government & Econ. -Geometry -Environmental Science -Sculpting -Painting -Community Service -Sociology
Hair: Blaise has long, thick and coarse hair from the African American half of her parentage. It is naturally a dusky red-brown. She likes to keep it up and out of her face, but will wear it down and styled on special occasions. Eyes: A greenish-brown, earthy color. Almond shaped and framed by prominent lashes. Height: 5'6 Weight: 115
Blaise grew up in Brooklyn, NY but she always believed she belonged somewhere warm and sunny, some little island off the coast of nowhere. She likes nothing more to be outdoors and is very, very active even if organized sports aren't for her. There is isn't much she wont try at least once, being a complete adrenaline junkie. She absolutely loves snowboarding, rock climbing, kayaking and many different so-called "extreme" sports. Whatever it is, Blaise throws herself in wholeheartedly. Fear is not in her vocabulary.
She's an artist at heart and finds inspiration and solace in nature itself. Climbing rocks and trees, fording rivers and exploring the forest are some of her favorite past-times, along with random adventures and meeting new people.
Blaise has very little care for things like fashion, pop culture, or money. She gets along with many different types of people, but has a very deep dislike for arrogance and ego. Both of her parents have been large influences in her life and have led her to value intelligence, free-thinking and uniqueness as very important traits.
Blaise has never truly wanted for anything in her life and therefore can come off as slightly naive in her ideals despite her good intentions. She's a vegan, a feminist, and tries to raise awareness for humanitarian issues in third world countries.
In social situations the girl is laid back and can assimilate well into different groups of people. As long as the conversation isn't with someone who is blatantly bigoted, racist or ignorant she can get along with anyone and is well liked.
(This section is bound to grow as I play her. I find it difficult to define a new character completely before playing them.)
Blaise is one of two daughters of Melissa and Robert Grisham. Her mother, Melissa, holds a PhD in psychology, while her father is a rather high profile post modern architect. Her elder sister, Ariah, is currently studying genetics at NYU.
Blaise and Ariah spent every summer of their childhood on their grandparents tree farm in West Virginia. Growing up in a concrete jungle such as New York, their parents felt it was important for them to learn and enjoy nature and the benefit of hard, physical labor. Ariah hated the early mornings, and back-breaking, sweaty work that entailed all of keeping the place running smoothly, never felt comfortable being away from the noise of the city. Blaise, on the other hand lived for every summer, simply could not wait or the train ride down. She loved the quiet charm of the countryside and the despite leaving her friends behind in Brooklyn, was always quick to make friends with the local children.
She was never a squeamish or fearful child. She would climb to the top of every tree, jump across riverbanks, and ride horses bareback, simply laughing when she fell off. Blaise would send her older sister into a frenzy, worrying over her getting hurt. By the time she was 14 she had already broken several bones and had to go into the doctors office for stitches more times that once.
A trip the family took to India had a profound impact on Blaise and her general view of the world. In Calcutta she saw countless people living in slums, children that had no food to eat and women forced into prostitution because of poverty. She developed a fierce sense of responsibility and compassion for the human rights movement, and began to educate herself on world issues and issues in her own country. Immediately after returning home she started her own charity and with the help of her community, managed to raise four thousand dollars which she donated (with the guidance of her parents) to an orphanage in Calcutta.
When Ariah was nineteen, she was involved in a very terrible car accident that left the entire lower half of her body completely paralyzed. It had been a miracle she had even survived the crash, but living as a paraplegic was very hard for Blaise's fast paced sister. Their mother took leave from her job for six months in order to help take care of her, and it was a very difficult and trying time for the family.
To Blaise, it seemed very odd that this had happened to her sister, when it was she who took all the risks. It might have made another person more cautious of their actions, but it only served to strike her as only more reason to live her life to the fullest.
Wanting to further her education in the arts (fueled by the romantic notion of being an artist and an activist) Blaise was encouraged by her parents to apply to Lux Lucis, a school with a good visual arts program and a desirable reputation.
Her goal after graduation is to travel the world and join the peace corp .
