Player's Name: Panda. Other Characters: Maria D'Agnolo. Contacts: PM, AIM - shinnakio, MSN - shinnakoi@hotmail.com Random Fact: Umm I've always wanted a brother :c
Name: Chester Davi Mendes. Alias: -- Age: 16. Birthday: May 31, 1994. Gender: Male. Sexual Preference: Heterosexual. Occupation: student/works at subashii electronics
Grade: Junior. Concentration: Visual arts - film. Class List: English 11 Spanish III History of Art Algebra II Chemistry Filmography Photography Creative Writing
Hair: Chester's hair is cut short and often pushed out of his face. If he didn't brush his hair back so much he'd have short bangs. It is a very dark brown in color with some ashy brown, natural highlights. Eyes: His eyes are a deep chocolate brown. Height: 5'10" Weight: 145
Although Chester isn't a particularly loud student, he's quite friendly and gentle - something people notice right away when they're near him or if they interact with him. He doesn't speak or act out as much as he would like to, and is generally quiet especially when he's by himself. However if somebody starts him going then he's not hesitant to show his energy.
Part of Chester's charm is his relentless optimism, for no matter the situation or subject he manages to find the light in things. Dark, depressing thoughts just never suited him, and it takes a lot of effort for him to successfully incorporate conflicts into his films. He has a natural-born gift of cheering people up, and is immune to catch any bad moods when he's around people who are down. Instead of letting negative emotions rub off on him, he intercepts and destroys them with his inner sunshine. Things rarely let him down, because he's manages to convince himself that everything will eventually turn out alright. Perhaps it was the support of his family or how his parents turned their dark lives around that keeps him happy, but either way Chester can usually never be found in a mood other than spunky and joyful.
Just because Chester is not initially very talkative, he is neither shy nor low on self esteem. He tends to live life independently, and rarely gets lonely; therefore he doesn't see the need for a big group of friends or popularity. Instead he enjoys staying on the outside of things, not being involved but rather looking in and observing. Perhaps it is where he gets his love of film making, he is never in front of the camera and in the spotlight, but instead watching and recording it.
As far as confidence goes, Chester has plenty of it. Although he doesn't seem like an ego-maniac, he does have a certain way about himself that oozes the self-confidence and maybe even vanity that he possesses. He truly hates when others challenge him, but his majority and self-assurance cause him to never act recklessly or like a sore loser. However his hidden competitive streak forces him into being a very jealous and possessive person. When he wants something he pours everything he owns into it, and consumes that thing with every drop of desire he has. His strong will and ambition sometimes greet him with great disappointment if he fails, and makes it hard for him to get over things.
Luckily his optimist behavior doesn't allow him to be hard on himself for too long, and he is usually able to block out negative feelings of failure anyway. This benefits him because it means he can always keep going, but at the same time it makes him naive, not only to his own disabilities but also the true darkness of the world...
While Chester's mother, Gabriella,, was growing up in New York City, destined to be a doctor like the rest of her family, Chester's father, Matheus, was an illegal immigrant from Brazil making a living as a dirty coke dealer. He was incredibly unhappy and lived as a criminal on the streets with the rest of his family, shooting heroin, drinking, and stealing for money.
Then they met by pure chance, two people on opposite spectrum of the social scene hitting it off in a local cafe where Matheus flirted with broken English and Gabby was charmed by his sweet but bad boy demeanor.
As time went on she found out about his horrible life, and treated him to luxuries and expenses in hopes of turning him off the drugs and off the streets. Matheus was very grateful and more or less honest with Gabby, but he was afraid because his elopement with the woman caused his family to lose trust in him, and he constantly doubted their relationship knowing how much more pristine she was than him. Their relationship grew until it came to a point where Gabby basically asked Matheus to chose his old life or her. He chose neither, and ran away from the pressure of it all, only to be beaten up and nearly killed by his own family for betrayal.
By then Gabby couldn't hide how much of a bum her boyfriend really was to her family, and because she was so young they grew more protective of her made a point to watch over who she was hanging around with.
Eventually Matheus came back, telling Gabby that he was a clean man now and free of criminal activities. He claimed that he no longer had ties to his family and prior illegal behaviors, and said he wanted her to come away with him so they could live together alone. Gabby didn't jump on the idea of leaving right away, especially with her dream of getting into med school as well as her family's well intentioned disapproval of Matheus. So they continued seeing each other in secret until Matheus' family found out about his return to the area and began to stalk his whereabouts. Now Gabby's decision to either run with her lover or stay with her family was mandatory.
So it was one winter night that she spoke to her family about Matheus and his situation. Without a blink of the eye they told her that they'd cut off any financial help for her if she stayed with him. Unfortunately the threat didn't work, and Gabby went off with her newly reinvented boyfriend.
After years of traveling and just barely making it by, the couple spiraled downhill when Gabby became expectantly pregnant around the same time that Matheus started shooting up and drinking again. They started to have violent arguments and soon became completely homeless and broke while living in San Fransisco. They managed to have a wedding ceremony to keep Matheus in the country before giving birth to their first son, Chester Davi Mendes.
For 3 months they lived on scraps to feed their baby while Matheus halfheartedly fought his addiction when a letter came. It informed the couple of the sudden death of Gabby's parents, and the large fortune they left in their will to their children, giving Gabby about 1/8 of the money given to her siblings. However the generosity of her brothers and sisters offered her more of the share, and all of a sudden the couple had something to live off of.
With new hope in sight, Matheus had an easier time ceasing his drug use, while Gabby used part of their fortune to go back to med school.
After earning her degree and landing a job, the family was off to a new start, a life as a comfortable, small family living in California. Things turned around rather quickly, and as Chester began growing up as a child he sparked an interest in films and received a video camera for his 10th birthday. This led to a development of his talent, and soon his parents were researching special schools for the child they believed a prodigy.
When Chester left for Cinders his freshman year, his parents gave birth to a second boy named Erik then a daughter named Mariella. He doesn't visit his family so often because of the travel distance, but remains close to them and still receives their full support.
