Shopping. He didn't particularly care for it. Then again, most guys didn't, he supposed, unless it was for something like electronics... but still, clothes shopping was a necessity, and he'd picked up his paycheck from work, the one he'd forgotten to pick up before summer vacation. Yeah, they'd been holding it that long, but that was the great thing about Cinders, he supposed. It was such a small place, and the shops were willing to work with the students when it came to jobs.
Now, one might wonder why Grim was clothes shopping in the first place. He had a decent closet, but upon closer inspection a lot of his clothes were ragged and he'd had them since freshman year. His shoes were finally starting to wear-and-tear and as much as he hated breaking in new shoes, he hated getting blisters from shoes that scraped against his socked feet. It hurt like a bitch. And this wasn't even starting on the fact that two of his shirts and a pair of his jeans had holes in them- mostly from partying too hard.
So here he was, in downtown Cinders, on Kingston street, looking for shop that was reasonable enough for him to buy clothing in, yet not so expensive that he wasn't going to have money to eat (or do other things) with.
He raised his sunglasses on top of his head as he saw a shirt in a window he liked. Why, why, why did shopping have to be so boring? He wondered if they had it in his size- hell, he didn't want to go in and try the damn thing on. He wasn't a girl, and for god's sake, he was bored out of his fucking mind. He made a mental note to just pay someone next time to go out and find something he'd like based on what he owned in his closet.
As was typical of the small town on a busy weekend, he backed up and right on a girl at that, sending her stumbling back to regain her balance. He turned around, catching his own footing in time so he didn't fall. "Woah. Sorry." he apologized. That would teach him to watch where he was going... well, no, it wouldn't.

Simply put, the girl needed a new wardrobe. Thought no matter what she would buy, or how much money she would spend, the clothing would end up ripped, torn, or loose; it was just her style. Since she had been working part-time she had a good amount of money saved up, and even if she only spent a small portion of it she would still have a nice amount. Rome had decided to save it up in case Lux Lucis Academy decided she didn't deserve the scholarship she had to be a student; but she was making sure that she also had enough to spend during her once in a life time adventures with shopping. Despite her loathing to shop, due to the people and the whole organic process of it all, she would always end up buying one or two items for herself, or more, and something for her father.
Rome would much rather go around naked then have to deal with the process of shopping, especially on Kingston Street. Of course, she couldn't very well do that seeing as how the academy had a dress code -- thought she was never one to actually follow it. If she found something that she actually wouldn't mind wearing, she'd consider herself lucky, and then she'd award herself with walking all the way back home. Along with it being something she currently liked, it also had to be something she could possibly wear three years from now... Yes, Rome never made it a habit to go shopping, if she were to calculate it, this was probably the first time shopping for clothes in the last three years, and in general her third time shopping in the last year.
She sighed to herself as she tried to walk around a group of girl trying to comfort one of their friends. "Seriously Barbie, did Ken break up with you again? Oh your plastic little heart will mend." Her voice was loud and whiny as she passed the group, rolling her eyes before she turned the corner. She didn't really want to be forced to confront the girl due to what she had said, but she loved herself at that moment for saying it. It was obvious that the girl was crying because her boyfriend had just broken up with her, but did the girl and her friends really have to take up her space to do so. Seriously, it was just a fucking boy. They're useless otherwise.
When she finally regained the composure to walk forward again, she walked right in the way a someone was backing up. She was tousled off her feet in a clumsy fashion as she lost her balance and almost fell on her ass, she quickly regained herself. Her eyes fell on the boy just as he spoke his words to her, she crossed her arm and gave him a hard long glare before she huffed loudly. "Watch where you're going next time," she tried to smile, but it ended up looking fake and sarcastic, "Are we clear?" She watched him for a moment, she placed one hand on her hip, looking at him with an odd expression on her face, before rolling her eyes. Was she honestly standing here wasting her time on this?
"Whatever," she muttered, rolling her eyes again. "Have a nice day," she huffed meaningless as she began to walk off.

Grim was surprised by the girl's attitude. What had she just said to him? He was stunned, but only for a few moments. "Maybe I did it on purpose," okay, well, he hadn't really done it on purpose, but how could she tell him to watch where he was going? What if he had been watching and had deliberately bumped into her.
He didn't seem to be trying to confront her, though. And, in fact, he wasn't sure why he'd responded at all to the girl. He should have just ignored her. It wasn't as if she would contribute anything to his day. But he was bored shopping, so maybe subconsciously he wanted a distraction, and she was the perfect excuse.
Even if she didn't respond back or waste more time speaking to him, at least it was something interesting to do. He watched her to see what she would do. Would she turn back and speak to him? Or would she just ignore him and keep walking. She really had no reason to speak to him, he knew. In fact, he wasn't sure that he would speak to him as it stood. He'd probably just ignore him and keep walking... but she wasn't him, so he couldn't read her mind.
Grim tilted his head. "So I don't think we are clear," he added, though he spoke in a softer tone. His words, coming from someone else, might have sounded mocking- as if he were trying to start a fight. But coming from him, their meaning was ambiguous. He sounded more playful and curious than anything.

Andromeda rolled her eyes; she was actually considering wasting her time with this boy. She bit her bottom lip as she stopped cold in her tracks. She didn't bother turning around because she'd probably deceive herself. Rome was fighting with herself, turn back around and talk to the boy or continue to walk. Then, without any premeditated thoughts, she turned around to face the boy. The girl looked him over, her expression taking on that of question, then she spoke, "Oh, you are capable of thinking of such things?" Her voice was mocking -- she was simply trying to get his goat, so to speak.
Crossing her arms along her chest, her expression now condescending as she watched the boy for his reaction. Slowly, Rome was starting to feel slightly amuse; though, slightly angry for standing here wasting her time. This situation could be fun, possibly more fun than picking on the Barbie and Ken dynamics of a relationship that ended, or even shopping for that matter -- though she really did need clothes. Then the boy spoke again; answering her clearly rhetorical question from before. Of course, people always tended to respond to rhetorical questions all the time, though for some reason his voice as he answered seemed to bother her the most.
"So I don't think we are clear..."
Out of instinct her arms went to her sides, one hand resting on her hip, her tongue rubbing against her cheek as she grumbled in annoyance. She took a deep breath, closing her eyes, then exhaled, rolling her eyes as she did so. And on a day where she was in such moods, she was trying to shop? Yea, today would not have gone very well. In fact, today wasn't going very well, but as usual Rome could not resist a moment of witty bantering with a stranger. "Oh? We aren't clear, are we?" She raised an eye brow at the boy, as if she were puzzled. "And here, I thought I made myself perfectly clear." She paused, giving the boy a sickening sweet smile, obviously fake, before she spoke slowly, "Shall I run it by you again?" Andromeda tilted her head, the expression on her face impatient, as if she were a mother growing tired of a fussy child.

He had succeeded in catching her interest. That was good- perhaps- now all he needed was for her to stay and amuse him. Gosh, was that as bad as it sounded in his head? More than likely, the answer was yes, and for once Grim was glad he had the decency to not ramble just about what was on his mind as some people did. He could censor his thoughts.
He wasn't entirely sure, since he didn't know the girl, if she was just playing around, as he was, or if she was taking everything far too seriously. He assumed he'd know one way or another soon, though. She had turned and was speaking to him. He wanted to laugh at her words. It was cute the way she repeated herself like that. Had he flustered her? She was trying to hide it, if he had. But certainly she had a better comeback in her.
He wasn't going to waste time on that. He was having fun, nonetheless. It was better than clothes shopping.
"Yeah," he just smiled. "You do that," his Icelandic accent was thick on his words. It was just something he had never gotten rid of, even though his family had been within the United States for a few years. He hadn't learned English until arriving in the states, and due to that, he would never fully get rid of it.

Rome almost couldn't stand there with this boy, here patience didn't seem to work well with this guy. Of course, Rome hadn't started her day wanting to do something such as shopping, so it always put her in rare form, but this random guy being such a pain in her ass was starting to eb on her last nerve. She rolls her eyes out of impatience; she didn't know how much more she could take. In her eyes, he looked like another stupid teenager who enjoyed ruining peoples lives, and at this very moment he had chosen to ruin hers. Honestly, she felt as though she would explode; in a way she hoped she would so she could explode guts all over this ignorant piece of shit.
But, Rome had to admit he was entertaining her on a day where she would have been bored otherwise and picking a fight with retailers. It would have been a blood bath. Of course as she stood here she felt ridiculous because she wasn't on her best foot with material to come back. Part of her knew that this boy was just playing her back, but then part of her couldn't help but think he was serious. With the seemingly expressionless face she couldn't help but think of him as cryptic. She wasn't quite sure how to take him or his words. She glowered her eyes and bit her bottom lip, her eyebrows squinching together... In an annoying trait she tapped her foot as she thought about what she could say next. She was thinking about what to say? One may ask, and quite frankly, she was.
The girl simply nodded her head in disapproval. She had nothing, and she honestly didn't want to bother with such trifles anymore. She actually wanted to be on her way and shopping. Rolling her eyes, she spoke in the most monotinous voice she could muster, "Seriously, I must be off to shop now. Next time watch where the hell you're walking." She glared before she turned away. Hopefully this time the boy would get under her skin and force her, by instinct, to turn around and face him again. She didn't want to bother with a nothing like him, she just wanted to be on her way. Oddly enough.
